Change isn’t going to come easily to the fashion industry. Why would it? When their goal is to make money, they’re been pretty darn successful. They’re figured out the best way to bring home the bacon: cut corners regarding ethical conditions, the environment and worker salaries. Fool people into thinking you need more more more and it’s a recipe for success.
Every year, to mark the anniversary of the Rana Plaza Collapse which killed 1,138 garment workers, Fashion Revolution unites the ethical fashion world and their devotees to demand greater transparency of the entire fashion world’s supply chain. From local in person campaigns, like clothing swaps, talks and film screenings to massive social media campaigns demanding changes, our voices are stronger united through Fashion Revolution. When we all join together we cannot be ignored.
This year from 24th-30th April we are proud to be joining in on the #whomademyclothes campaign. We stand behind Fashion Revolution’s mission 100% and are grateful for their amazing organization skills that are bringing attention to the causes we have dedicated our lives to here at VIRTŪ. Our mission at VIRTŪ has always been to end the vicious cycle that is fast fashion. Just as Fashion Revolution trumpets, we at VIRTŪ believe in dignity for workers regardless of geographical location and being gentle to our environment.
As the folks at Fashion Revolution say, “Be curious. Find out. Do something”. Learn more and join the campaign here.
